When we head up to Vermont next month, we’re hoping to do three or four bike rides over the course of the week. One we know we’ll do is a repeat of the first ride from last summer’s vacation, the Stowe City Ride. If you remember, this one killed me; it’s where I realized they don’t have hills in Vermont, they have mountains.
The other ride we definitely want to do is the one I chickened out on last year, the Ferry to Ferry ride.

Yes, it’s got 2200 feet of climbs, with that one big hill, but heck, you do get the break of the ferry in there (twice), and there’s something cool about riding in two different states.

That leaves us with two or three other potential rides. Chris sent me this one for my consideration, the Elmore-Montpelier Loop.

Yes, it’s longer than I would normally like but if the elevation is correct, it’s not as hilly. Though, seeing Interstate 89, I’m wondering about that. I’m also wondering about the roads it’s using, I think they may be congested (well, congested for Vermont that is).
The next one he sent me is, Six Gaps, Green Mountain

I think he’s being funny with the above route considering it’s 131 miles, with over 11K feet of climbing. If he’s not joking, well you know one of us won’t be returning from Vermont…
Here’s another one of his bright ideas, Covered Bridges of Franklin County

Not as bad as the prior one, but still 2600 feet of climbing, all at one time!
All I can say is this should be an interesting week and my thighs are already burning.
