Birds of a Feather is the second book in the Maisie Dobbs series. In it, we find Maisie moving up in the world to some nicer digs and a full time assistant. There’s also the inklings of possible romance down the road. Plus business is thriving. All looks good for Maisie as she takes on the case of a missing daughter portrayed as a bit of a spoiled brat who runs away whenever she doesn’t get her way. Interestingly, you might think the daughter a teen. She’s not. She’s in her twenties and Iike everything there’s more to this story than it first appears.

It’s not long before Maisie and her assistant are thoroughly embroiled in not only the search but a series of murders. And while there was the inkling of one romance at the start it’s not long before a second potential suitor appears.

My Thinks

While I️ figured out who the murderer was relatively early but not necessarily the motive until further on, I️ still really like this series and the characters. The cozy tone suits me fine. It makes me want to brew a bit of tea, curl up on the couch and read. These aren’t hard reads as I️ said before, if you’re a fan of mysteries, give these a go. It’s a nice way to spend some time.
