Definitely DeadYes, I know I just sang the virtues of the Sookie Stackhouse series last week but this week, I finished the sixth book in the series, Definitely Dead and I have to say, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other books for two reasons.
1. For some reason it felt like it didn’t flow to me, or took a while to get into the crux of the story; things weren’t coming together in an easy to understand flow.

And

SPOILER ALERT – I may give away some details so don’t read further if you don’t want to know.

2. There was a section missing. Apparently, between, Dead as a Doornail and Definitely Dead, Charlene Harris wrote a short story – hmm… well now it might be two and they might have been between Dead to the World and Dead as a Doornail but I didn’t notice them missing there. Anyway, she wrote “Fairy Dust” published in Powers of Detection and “One Word Answer” from Bite (okay now that I think about it – I did miss Fairy Dust between the fourth and fifth book). Anyway, I hate when authors do this. If you don’t know, then all your left with is the republished recaps in the regular series, but they still leaving me feeling incomplete.

For example, I’m sure we learned more about Claudine’s character in Fairy Dust, and we learned about Sookie’s dead vampire cousin in Bite but I didn’t get that information, so I had to go with the brief recap that Charlene Harris interwove through the story of Definitely Dead. It left me feeling incomplete.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to continue with the series. I just wanted to express my irked feelings.
