Back SpinI shouldn’t have stayed up so late to finish Back Spin by Harlan Coben. Not because I have apparently read it before and not because it wasn’t good just because when I stay up so late, I drag the entire next day. Anyway … I didn’t intend to read this book a second time but I just couldn’t remember if I’d read it before as I had started this series so long ago and then stopped for some reason. I knew I’d read the fifth book in the series,One False Move, but Back Spin, the story of a kidnapping set against the back drop of the US Open Golf Tournament just didn’t ring a bell, until I get a bit into it. Then something tickled my brain about one of the secondary characters which turned out to unravel part of the mystery. Still, I didn’t unravel the entire mystery and this is such a fast-paced, easy read that it really only took a few hours of my time for the re-read and now I can pick up the series with the sixth book without my OCD regarding reading book series in order resolved.

As I said the book is fast-paced and an easy read. Still something slightly unbelievable about Myron, the sports agent, lawyer and ameteur sleuth along with his friend Win, the wealthy blue-blood financial planner, but it doesn’t matter. If you want something quick, filled with pop-culture references and a slightly irreverent tone, give this series a try.
